Support getPNG
Everything here is free and stays free. There is no account, no watermark, no size limit and no feature waiting behind a payment, and that is not a trial period: it is what the site is.
Why it can be free
Your own machine does the expensive part. The model that finds the subject runs in your browser, on your processor or your graphics card, so removing a background costs this site nothing at all. That is the whole reason a tool like this can be given away while the ones that upload your photo have to charge for it: they are paying for the computer that does the work, and here there isn't one.
What it does cost
Three things: the domain, the hosting for a few megabytes of static pages, and the bandwidth for the model files, which are the only large thing anybody downloads. That last one is the real bill, and it grows with the number of people who use the site rather than with anything they pay.
What a tip pays for
That bill, and the time to keep the tool better than the paid ones: a cleaner edge on hair, sizes for the places people actually post, a compressor that does not wreck transparency. Nothing you give unlocks anything, here or later.
Buy me a coffee on Ko-fi: one off, no account needed on your side, and nothing is unlocked by it.
Things that help more than money
- Tell somebody who is about to upload a photo to a site that keeps it.
- Answer the question that appears after a download, especially when the cutout was poor. It is the only thing that says which edges still need work, and it carries nothing of yours.
- Use getSVG when the next step is a vector: it is the same promise applied to tracing.
- Use getReport when the picture is going on a website: it checks a page you have published, images included, and it is free for the same reasons this is.
